Ebstein's anomaly-How to correct severe anatomical forms of the defect in adults.

چکیده
We present the case of a 43-year-old female with a severe tricuspid regurgitation due to an Ebstein Anomaly. She was in New York Association Functional Class II, and was still in sinus rhythm despite a hugely dilated right atrium. The preoperative workup included a transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography which showed a typical aspect of Ebstein anomaly with a 1.5 cm apical displacement of the septal leaflet, dilatation the right atrium and of the right ventricle whose function was decreased. A cardiac catheterization confirmed that the coronary arteries were free of stenotic lesions. The indication to operate the patient was based on the severity of the tricuspid regurgitation, and the symptoms.

Ebstein's anomaly in adults: Modified cone reconstruction of the tricuspid valve is associated with promising outcomes.
BACKGROUND Ebstein's anomaly is a complex malformation. Justification of a procedure in mildly symptomatic adults is debatable: repair techniques are demanding and valve replacement is associated with poorer outcome. OBJECTIVES We report our initial experience with the cone procedure versus medical follow-up. METHODS Patients aged≥15years with Ebstein's anomaly were enrolled during 2007-201...
متن کاملImperforate Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve.
Sir: In the case report by Gerlis and Anderson (British Heart Journal, 1976, 38, 108), the authors are not correct in saying that there is no previous description of imperforate Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve. In 1973, we reported a case of Ebstein's malformation of the tricuspid valve with complete obstruction to the tricuspid valve orifice, i.e. atresia (Rao et al., 1973). The assoc...
متن کاملEbstein's Anomaly Associated with Cardiomyopathy
DURING the past decade definite progress has been made toward an understanding of the hemodynamic alterations and pathophysiologic aspects of Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve.1' 2 Moreover, an increased awareness of the characteristic clinical findings has resulted in an apparent increase in incidence of the disease. Largely as a result of careful pathologic studies, atypical forms of E...
متن کاملLate-Onset Cyanosis and Finger Clubbing in a 37-Year-Old Female with Ebstein's Anomaly and Atrial Septal Defect.
UNLABELLED It is common to suspect Eisenmenger syndrome when patients with atrial septal defect (ASD) show cyanosis and clubbing. However, ASD accompanying Ebstein's anomaly frequently shows cyanosis without severe pulmonary hypertension, especially in the early period after birth. So the medical decision to decline surgical treatment in those patients should not be determined merely by clinica...
متن کاملA Case Report: A Newborn with Severe Ebstein's Anomaly in Hajar Hospital of Shahrekord
Background and Aims: Ebstein’s anomaly is an abnormal displacement downward of Tricuspid valve into the right ventricular, which is accompanied by myopathy of the right ventricular. It is found rarely with the prevalence of approximately 1:20000. Since the diagnosis of this disease in the appropriate position and time, the management of patients is important. This infant with Ebstein’s anomaly ...
